Materuni Waterfalls

Materuni Waterfalls is a breathtaking 70–90 meter waterfall located at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, just about 15 km from Moshi. Nestled in Materuni Village at an elevation of around 1,540 meters, it is one of the tallest and most scenic waterfalls in the region.

A visit to Materuni Waterfalls typically includes a 45-minute to 1-hour guided hike through lush tropical rainforest, passing banana and coffee farms with stunning valley views and, on clear days, glimpses of Kilimanjaro. At the base, the waterfall cascades into a natural, crystal-clear pool, perfect for a refreshing .

One of the highlights of the experience is the authentic Chagga cultural tour, where visitors can take part in a traditional coffee-making process picking, roasting, grinding, and brewing fresh coffee often accompanied by local songs and dances.

Accessible year-round, Materuni is best visited during dry conditions, as trails can become slippery after heavy rains. Beyond its natural beauty, the destination offers a meaningful way to support the local Chagga community while enjoying a rich blend of adventure and culture.
